Reaching the full term brings a mix of excitement and anticipation. At the same time, it may bring feelings of anxiety as the due date is drawing near. Here are Bible verses that we can read and meditate on as our labor and birth are approaching.
Giving birth, either via normal delivery or Cesarean section, though a normal life event, really takes so much of one’s energy physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. So to overcome this energy-consuming challenge, we also need to prepare holistically.
Meditating on these Bible verses every day can help you prepare spiritually–of course, not neglecting prayer, Bible reading, and intentionally practicing gratitude.
These Bible verses will encourage and comfort you as your due date is approaching, soothing your anxiety and helping you rest in God’s promises. Personally, I cannot think of anything else that can be a strong and steadfast refuge in every challenging situation in life. Only God’s Word.
I have these cards printed and laminated so that I can bring them anywhere with me. In the meantime, I put them on my desk where I can easily grab them during my quiet time or any time of the day that I need more strength.
2 Corinthians 12:9
But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.
I lift up my eyes to the mountains—where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.
Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God;
I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
from the end of the earth I call to you when my heart is faint.
Lead me to the rock that is higher than I
He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength.
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures.
He leads me beside still waters.
He restores my soul.
He leads me in paths of righteousness
for his name’s sake.
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.
Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.
I can do all things through him who gives me strength.
The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end;
they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.
God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.
